Marco Dorfsman taught Spanish at the university.

A University of New Hampshire professor is being terminated effective May 17 after he admitted to intentionally lowering the student evaluations of another faculty member. In a press release issued Thursday, UNH said Provost John Aber decided that termination was the appropriate step for this "serious breach of ethical standards." Aber’s determination was informed by the recommendation of the Professional Standards Committee of the Faculty Senate, according to the press release. The PSC members unanimously agreed that Dorfsman’s conduct constituted moral turpitude and “evinces a gross disregard for the rights of others, is a clear and intentional breach of duties owed to others and to the university by virtue of employment at UNH and …

Senate Blocks Ed Tax Credit Repeal Bill

NH Senate debate turns emotional as senators speak of the pros and cons of the law.

The New Hampshire Senate voted 13-11 on Thursday to table House Bill 370, the bill that would repeal the education tax credit program, in a party line vote led by Republicans seeking to scuttle the legislation. Sen. Andy Sanborn (R-Bedford) said the law was a step toward school choice, in that it helps an estimated 1,400 children in the state. "This is about helping poor children," he said during the Senate debate. "This is truly about fairness." Senate Minority Leader Sylvia Larsen (D-Concord) called the program unconstitutional, and she echoed members of the Democratic caucus who called it poor tax policy. Sen. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) urged colleagues to give the program a chance to work. "Parents," he said, "are flocking to this …

If the public school deems them a "bad actor" and not fit for enrollment, then they will be held accountable to whatever …   more ›
