Officers with a shield and battering ram searched a motel.
Portsmouth, Newington and state police are searching for a male suspect in an alleged assault off Gosling Road near the malls. Sgt. Christopher Roth said at about 5 p.m. Tuesday that police have yet to locate the suspect. Roth said the suspect isn't armed, and added there's no threat to the public. As of 10 p.m., the suspect remained on the run. Police were initially called to Gosling Meadows shortly after noon. They set up a perimeter and searched the area with a police dog. The search quickly expanded to at least a mile radius, with police cars were situated near Motel 6, McDonald's, Ocean State Job Lots, and Bed Bath & Beyond, among other locations. Portsmouth Police say driver struck utility pole on Elwyn Road while checking her Facebook status on her cell phone.
A Portsmouth woman was cited for distracted driving on Saturday morning after Portsmouth Police say she crashed her car into a utility pole while checking Facebook on her cell phone, according to the Union Leader. The Union Leader reported that Kelsie Hoyne, 23, was charged with negligent driving following the single car crash that took place on Elwyn Road just after 10 a.m. The newspaper reported that Hoyne was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, but a passenger was not injured.

Portsmouth Police screened 179 drivers at MIddle Street sobriety checkpoint on Friday night.
Portsmouth Police arrested four people at a sobriety checkpoint on Middle Street Friday night where they screened 179 drivers. Portsmouth Police Capt. Frank Warhol said the sobriety checkpoint was conducted on Middle Street near Middle Road and was authorized by the Rockingham County Superior Court. It was conducted between 10 a.m. and 2 a.m. Members of the Portsmouth Police Explorer Post also assisted the operation. The following people were arrested: All four were released on personal recognizance bail. Favara, Bloom and Gray are scheduled to be arraigned in the Portsmouth Circuit Court on June 3. Dennison is scheduled to be arraigned on June 17, according to Warhol.

Kenneth Kimber, 34, of Portsmouth was indicted for attempted felonious sexual assault for trying to lure a 14-year-old girl to his apartment.
A former Portsmouth Schools IT worker has been indicted by a Rockingham County grand jury for trying to lure a 14-year-old girl to his apartment for sex last winter, according to the Union Leader. The Union Leader has reported that Kenneth Kimber, 34, is now headed for trial on one count of attempted felonious sexual assault for allegedly using a school computer to lure the teen on Feb. 3. Kimber was arrested by Portsmouth Police on Feb. 15 for three felony counts of certain uses of a computer prohibited and five felony counts of indecent exposure. He was arrested again in March for sex solicitation for allegedly trying to have sex with the 14-year-old girl. He was arrested again in April on nine stalking charges.
