New Hampshire Theatre Project provides a welcoming environment for youth, artists, and community members to experience self-discovery and growth through the art and process of theatre.

We envision a community of individuals who are self-reflective, articulate, passionate, and compassionate; a community where differences are honored, history and literature are explored as resources for problem-solving, and difficult issues are negotiated with mutual respect and thoughtful dialogue.

NHTP was incorporated in 1988 by a group of professional performing artists who were dedicated to collaboration, education and community-building. Over the past 24 years, NHTP has conducted hundreds of professional artist-in-residence programs in communities throughout New England; taught theatre to thousands of children, teens and adults through classes and summer camps; collaborated with numerous community organizations; and created high quality productions at venues across New Hampshire – from The Music Hall and the Palace Theatre to libraries, community centers and businesses. NHTP has always been based in Portsmouth, NH, although our office and studio space changed frequently in our early years. As of September 2003, our new permanent home is West End Studio Theatre (WEST); an intimate, fully accessible, 47-seat black box theatre complete with refurbished seats, full technical capabilities, offices, green room space, and a handsome lobby.
