Texas Man Charged with Simple Assault in City Bar

Portsmouth Police supplied the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Tuesday, July 31 through Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Tuesday:

  • At 12:55 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth woman who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after she turned herself in at the police station. Jennifer Lee Law, 38, of 1007 Maplewood Ave. in Portsmouth was wanted for issuing bad checks.
  • At 1:48 p.m., police reported the theft of a mountain bike on Clinton Street.
  • At 2:58 p.m., police reported a three-car accident on Lafayette Road where one of the vehicles had a toddler inside.
  • At 5:24 p.m., police arrested a juvenile on Greenleaf Avenue and charged him with burglary.
  • At 8:45 p.m., police arrested a Houston, Texas man on Market Street after he was involved in a dispute with a female subject inside a downtown restaurant/bar. Blake Zimmerman, 42, of 202 Electra Drive in Houston, Texas, was charged with two counts of simple assault and criminal threatening (intimidation).
  • At 10:31 p.m., police reported the theft of some prescription pills on Court Street.

  • At 7:49 a.m., police reported the theft of a computer, gaming system, and a wallet containing credit cards, a driver's license and Social Security car from a motor vehicle on Sagamore Avenue.
  • At 8:03 a.m., police reported a burglary on State Street where a laptop was stolen.
  • At 1:45 p.m., police arrested one juvenile and took two other juveniles into protective custody on Lafayette Road. A 15-year-old juvenile was charged with possession of controlled/narcotic drugs.
  • At 11:14 p.m., police took seven juveniles into protective custody after they were found walking around Prescott Park on Marcy Street with a carton of eggs.
