Allegiant Reveals Timeframe for First Flights Out of Pease

Allegiant will be the first passenger airliner to fly out of Pease in five years.

Allegiant said its first passenger flights out of the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease will likely start Nov. 1.

Those flights were supposed to start Friday, but they were rerouted to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. Allegiant said the furlough of TSA personnel during the government shutdown stalled the installation of passenger screening equipment at Pease.

"This is a temporary situation," said Allegiant spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler. "We're excited to be here and we're very appreciative of everything TSA has done to help us try to get this done as quickly as possible."

Allegiant previously served Pease from 2005 to 2007. Pease has been without a passenger airliner since Skybus left in 2008.

Allegiant will run a single, nonstop flight from Pease to Orlando-Sanford International Airport in Florida. Introductory fares are $71 one way, Wheeler said.

Allegiant is an "ultra low-cost carrier." Its airplanes flying out of Portsmouth have no video screens or wireless Internet service.
