Portsmouth Five Guys Opens to Big Crowd

The new restaurant is located on Lafayette Road at the site of the old Yoken's restaurant.

Cort Mendez was pleased when he opened the doors to the new Portsmouth Five Guys Burgers and Fries Monday at 11 a.m. and found several people already waiting in line.

"You never know how these things are going to go," said Mendez, the franchise owner.

The restaurant is located on Lafayette Road at the site of the old Yoken's restaurant. It has indoor and outdoor seating. It's the eighth Five Guys restaurant in New Hampshire.

Mendez said Five Guys prides itself on its hand-cut fries and fresh beef patties. He said the restaurant doesn't have a freezer. The staff are also very animated and "put on a show" behind the counter as they process orders, which Mendez said customers enjoy seeing.

The restaurant is open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Mendez said Five Guys franchises are set to open in Concord in February and in Seabrook in March.
