Bruce Cockburn: Canadian Folk/Rock Hero

The River
House Restaurant Concert Series will conclude their phenomenal summer line-up in
Prescott Park on a high note with Canadian Folk Rock legend, Bruce Cockburn.
Bruce Cockburn is a singer songwriter and guitarist, who boasts 13 Juno Awards,
has produced 31 albums to date, holds numerous Lifetime Achievement Awards, is
a Canadian Music Hall of Fame member, and was elected as an Officer in the
Order of Canada. A true icon for his music and activism, Bruce Cockburn will
perform on the FairPoint Communications MainStage starting at 7 pm.



"I must
admit I've been counting down the days until Bruce Cockburn's performance in
the Park, as much as I hate to see our summer concert series come to a close,"
says executive director, Ben Anderson. "Bruce Cockburn is a personal hero
of mine, an incredibly talented musician, and world-class performer. He is one
of the most celebrated acts we have ever brought to the stage, and one that
should absolutely not be missed."



Bruce
Cockburn long list of accolades is enough to make any music fan give a nod of
approval. A Canadian Hall of Fame inductee, Cockburn has long been regarded as
one of the world's finest performers with sparkling musicianship and amazing
guitar prowess. He has recorded 31 albums, many that have gone Gold or
Platinum, and earned a total of 13 Juno Awards, which are the equivalent of
Canada's Grammy Award. From his catalog of songs, over 250 of them have been
covered by such greats as Jimmy Buffet, Barenaked Ladies, k.d. Lang, Ani
DiFranco, Judy Collins, and Jerry Garcia.

As with all
Prescott Park Arts Festival's family-friendly events, including the River House
Restaurant Concert Series, shows are offered free and are open to the public,
with a suggested donation of $8-$10. People who wish to enjoy the concert are
welcome to come to Prescott Park with their own blankets or chairs to enjoy the
performance starting at 7 pm. Chair rentals are available through the
Festival's Merchandise Booth, which opens at 5 pm the day of the show.

The 2013 River
House Restaurant Concert Series in Prescott Park has featured an impressive
lineup of artists including Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn, The Head and
The Heart, Judy Collins, Lake Street Dive, Dar Williams, Steve Earle, Trombone
