Community Corner

Northern Trespass

This engaging documentary on the controversial Northern Pass transmission line project  looks at the proposed project’s potential impact on communities from northern Canada to southern New Hampshire. The hour-long film is produced by two new filmmakers from the White Mountains, Jan Marvel and Michelle Vaughn, who spent two years filming in Québec, Vermont, New Hampshire and New London, Conn.

The Northern Pass, which would bring industrial-scale hydropower from northern Quebec to southern New England, would result in the construction of more than 1,500 large steel transmission towers from Coos to Rockingham counties. Northern Trespass seeks to enlighten viewers about the impacts of the project.

The two Portsmouth screenings will be followed by question and answer sessions with the filmmakers, moderated by Jack Savage of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.
