Portsmouth Teen Accused of Aggravated DWI After Hitting 2 in Hampton

Hampton Police said the two pedestrians suffered serious injuries after being struck on Ocean Boulevard.

A 17-year-old driver from Portsmouth was arrested on aggravated driving while intoxicated charges after police say he struck and seriously injured two pedestrians in Hampton Beach early Thursday morning.

Hampton Police said Remi Gross-Santos, 17, was driving a 1992 Volvo 740 Sedan in the accident that occurred at about 7:15 a.m. June 12 at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and 13th.

The struck pedestrians were identified as Karen Weinhold, 69, and Lisa Beaudry, 60, both of Hampton.

Police said Weinhold was taken to Exeter Hospital and later flown to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where she remains in serious condition.

Beaudry was taken to Portsmouth Hospital and then flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where she was listed in serious condition, according to Hampton Police at 5 p.m. June 12.

The investigation is continuing and Hampton Police ask anyone with information related to the accident to call the department at (603) 929-4444 or the Crimeline for the Hamptons at (603) 929-1222. 

Gross-Santos was released from custody at around 2:45 p.m. in Hampton and he has an arraignment date in the 10th Circuit Court in Seabrook on June 25.

Police said he was released on $25,000 personal recognizance, with the following conditions:

• Defendant not commit a Federal, State, or Local crime while on release. 
• Defendant appear at all court proceedings as ordered. 
• Defendant advise the court in writing of all changes of address within 24 
hours. 
• Refrain from use of alcohol, and use of narcotic drug or controlled 
substance as defined in RSA 318-B. 
• Comply with the following curfew: be home at 9 p.m.  every night unless 
working. 
• Sign a waiver of extradition before release on bail. 
• Surrender his license to the Hampton Police Department.
