Two Bodies Pulled from Local River

Police declined to say whether foul play was involved.

By Kyle Stucker

Authorities on Friday recovered the bodies of two men found floating in the Hampton River.

Hampton Police Chief Jamie Sullivan said someone reported a man floating in the river near the Hampton River Marina Boat Club on Landing Road around 10:47 a.m. After police recovered him, they found the second man floating in the river, Sullivan said.

The chief declined to say if foul play was suspected. He called the deaths "untimely."

An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday. The names of the victims were withheld pending notification of family members.

"Our investigation is ongoing," Sullivan said.
