You've Done Enough Already

One intervention begets another.

Chaos is spreading across Iraq, and the usual suspects are lining up to push for even more American intervention in the region.

President Obama wants to keep all of his options on the table — including military action — because, as he says, "we do have a stake in making sure these jihadists are not getting a permanent foothold in either Iraq or Syria."

Mr. President, are you talking about the same jihadists — you were calling them "rebels" back then, if you recall — on whose behalf you wanted to deploy the US military in Syria a year ago? The same jihadists that have been getting US military assistance for at least that long? In the same conflict that has now spilled across the border into Iraq?

Enter his Ministers of Death, Stage Right — which looks a lot like Stage Left.

"I have never been more worried about another 9/11 than I am right now," said a trembling Lindsey Graham, blanket held effecte, just below his watery, terrified eyes. John McCain was there, behind him, hand placed consolingly on Graham's trembling shoulder as he stoically assured a waiting, breathless nation that if only he were president, so much more would be done to address this week's "gravest threat to our national security since the end of the Cold War." Then he smiled widely, revealing every tooth in his horned head.
