Celebrate 'Lennonfest,' Chili Cookoff This Weekend

The Prescott Park Arts Festival will host the first Memorial Bridge 5K this Saturday.

Looking for something fun to do on the Seacoast this weekend? Here are some ideas:

1. Celebrate John Lennon's birthday: "Lennonfest," a celebration of the music of John Lennon on Sunday, Oct. 13, which also would have been his 73rd birthday, will take place at the British Beer Company in Portsmouth.

2. Memorial Bridge 5K Road Race: The Prescott Park Arts Festival will host the first ever Memorial Bridge 5K Road Race on Saturday at 10 a.m. where runners will run from Kittery, Maine across the new bridge and through downtown Portsmouth.

3. Chili Cookoff: Immediately following the Memorial Bridge 5K road race, the Prescott Park Arts Festival will host the 24th annual WHEB Chili Cookoff beginning at 11:30 a.m. Several Seacoast area restaurants will compete for bragging rights and patrons can sample all of the chili and enjoy craft beer until the chili is gone.

4. Historic Tours at Music Hall: Take a tour of Portsmouth's historic Victorian theater on Saturday at 2 p.m.

5. See a Concert: There are several acts at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. On Sunday night, SOJA and AER will rock the house.
