Portsmouth City Council Hopefuls Line Up

The race for Portsmouth City Council this fall has started to shape out.

Three candidates Monday morning filed paperwork to run for a spot on the nine-member board. All nine seats are up for grabs in the Nov. 5 election. The filing period opened Monday morning.

By the time the City Clerk's office closed Monday, J. Robert Shouse, Josh Denton, and Gibson "Mike" Kennedy had signed up. Mayor Eric Spear also filed paperwork. Spear was the only incumbent of the group.

There are also races for School Board and Police Commission, among other bodies. No one filed paperwork for School Board Monday.
